The SSH-6 combines a super-directional shotgun element with a bidirectional side mic in a single capsule. The shotgun captures focused dialogue or a specific source in the center, while the side mic picks up ambient sound from left and right. You control how much environment gets mixed in, either on the recorder or in post.
This mid-side approach produces a stereo image that's fully mono-compatible, making it a natural choice for video production, documentary work, and electronic news gathering. A hairy windscreen is included for outdoor use. Compatible with the H5, H6, H8, Q8, U-44, F1, F4, F8, F8n, and ECM-3 extension cable.
